Christmas 1935/2020

Saw this photo recently, a shot of a 1930s Christmas and a happy kid who has received a Marx M-10005 clockwork set from Santa. This was around the same time my father was pining for an American Flyer Zephyr set. He received a Hoge 900 set instead, one that cost quite a bit less than the Flyer. His desire for a Flyer Zephyr stuck with him though, and 50 years later he found a Western Coil set made during the same period, but sold by the Consoli family after they acquired WC's last bit of inventory.

The train has been in storage for the two decades since he passed, but this year we decided to bust it out and return it to a place under the tree:

It's the 1930s once again. The train belongs to my daughter now, and he's having a chuckle. Good memories...
