NOT EXACTLY HO BUT

Post by javinda »

I was updating some files and came across this ad from 1962---yes I know it's not a train but it did run on HO track and I thought it might be of interest. Hope I didn't "violate" (smile) any of the rules.

Well, actually, it IS HO, or at least it was made by a leading HO manufacturer. American Flyer used to make a rocket sled, based on the test that pre-space-flight US used to use back in the Sputnick panic days to see how much acceleration a person could handle. I bought two of the motor blocks and used one of them to build a trolley. WHEW would it run around the track. It wouldn't go slowly even with perfectly clean track and wheels - it was just geared too high. Next time I'm in the attic, I'll bring the trolley down and take a picture.
