A recent project...a flatcar and load fashioned from the frame of a rusty Marx 552 gondola and a 3D-printed FT-17 tank model:

We painted the tank to have the look of a prewar Elastolin toy, as made in Germany during the 1930s. An overspray of clear satin lacquer gives it a bit of shine.

Slowly accumulating cars for a Marx military set, some of them homemade. This is the first.

Shopping for Christmas decorations yesterday at an antique shop (Thanksgiving Eve), spotted this little Marx "set" marked ten bucks...figured it would be worthwhile, even if for no other reason than to learn a bit more about Marx:

The loco is missing a few bits, and no idea (yet) if it's operable. We'll play with it a bit next week after visiting family clears out.
